The Association invites qualified arborists to apply as General Members. Once probationary periods and other requirements have been met, members may also be invited for inclusion in the Directory of Approved Contractors or on the Register of Consulting Arborists. Those not qualified may become Subscribers, and will be encouraged to continue their education by attendance at educational seminars and workshops.

Our members are from all areas of the industry and profession. Many are self employed, small business people interested in furthering their arboricultural knowledge. Others work for local Governments or are employed as arborists in public parks. Some are full-time teachers. All have an interest in sharing their skills with the public and in improving the practice of professional arboriculture

In order to become an Approved Contractor, each company listed on this site has met the following requirements:
  •  Completed 12 months probationary period where their conduct, work practices and  work ethics have been examined by their peers.
  •  Named representative has obtained a Certificate in Arboriculture minimum of level 2 or equivalent (Many hold level 3 or higher).
  •  Have up to date Public Liability Insurance to the value of $5,000,000.
  •  Have an appropriate Worker’s Compensation Policy to cover all their staff and subcontractors.
  •  Have in place an Occupational Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Policy. Agree personally and on behalf of sub-contractors to abide by the NAAA Code of Ethics.
  •  Carry out tree work to Australian Standard AS 4373 – Pruning of Amenity Trees, unless there is a documented reason for not meeting the standard.
